Yes I still own the 600mm lens and use it from time to time. I have a love hate relationship with this lens.

First the negatives about this lense : The lens is heavy, no actually the lens is very heavy, it is bulky, needs a dedicated backpack and the head is bulky too.

Cleaning the front element is a long and tedious job.

I know this all sound bad. I just want to to get a real perspective on what it means to own and haul the lens around. Given the $$$ investment it is a rather expensive mistake.

Ok the good : the reach of the lens. The image quality. The focusing for such an old lens it did pretty good not as good as then newer lenses from Sony.

If you don’t like attention forget this lens everybody will notice this big monster when you pull it out. I definitely stand out at the side of the field

Some mixed things : When the light is not great with high ISO and other settings the files can require a little more processing than what I would like.

the pictures are from the game yesterday in heavy raind with ISO at 1600 and speeds as low as 1/320s at some points I had to go all the way to ISO 3000. Speed should have been faster but with a monopod it was manageable
